Victoria Reason

Associate Director, Healthcare, Ketchum Pleon London

Victoria joined the Ketchum Pleon team in November 2003. She is currently leading the strategic direction of the science programme on behalf of Proctor & Gamble for Olay, working closely with the media to position the brand as the go to authority on science and clinical research. During this time Victoria has been part of the team who launched Olay Professional, successfully positioning this beauty ‘must have’ at the forefront of science and innovation.

In addition to consumer health experience working in infant nutrition and dermatology, Victoria has extensive ethical healthcare experience, in particular within the oncology field. For six years Victoria drove the communications programme for the breast cancer treatment Herceptin, working with the media to build this into one of the most recognisable healthcare brands in the UK. Victoria has also worked on the UK programmes for both Avastin and Tarceva.

Victoria has also had the opportunity to work on another blockbuster treatment, delivering the award winning Follow Your Heart programme for Lipitor. This once again allowed Victoria to focus on her passion of working with the UK media to implement media communications programmes which deliver strong results and high impact for her clients.

Victoria holds a 2:1 in Biology from Leeds University.

With a heavy cloud surrounding the safety of 124
cosmetic procedures, and many feeling uncomfortable with the perceived risks of surgery, women are increasingly turning to the next hero anti-ageing product within their budget. As a result the beauty industry will continue to invest heavily in delivering the latest breakthrough science that does not just claim, but proves to women, that this is the ‘must have’ product worth spending their hard earned cash on.  As a result we are seeing the paths of beauty and science converging more closely than ever before with a trend towards beauty companies using technologies and methods that have previously only been used at the cutting edge of pharmaceutical research, for example the use of NASA atomic force microscopes to observe molecular structures in hair.
